Yoga on the water.
All levels. All abilities.
SUP Yoga is yoga practice on a paddleboard, on the River Avon at Defford. Alex leads each session from the water: a flowing sequence of poses adapted for the board, punctuated by the movement of the river and the sounds of the riverbank in the evening light.
The instability of the board is the point. It sharpens focus, demands presence, and turns familiar poses into something new. Poses you have done hundreds of times on a mat will surprise you on moving water. That surprise is what most people find they come back for.
No prior paddleboarding experience is needed. Alex covers everything on the bank before anyone gets near the water. No prior yoga experience is needed either. Sessions are accessible to complete beginners and to people with an established practice who want to take it somewhere it has never been.

"Wow, the SUP yoga session with Alex was totally amazing. So relaxing in the beautiful surroundings of the River Avon. I had never done it before but Alex was a brilliant teacher and put me completely at ease. I am hooked."

Alex Wittering
SUP Yoga Instructor · Open Water Swimming Coach · SUP InstructorAlex has been teaching yoga on the water since Wittering SUP began, and has developed the SUP Yoga sessions into something distinct from what happens on a studio mat. She is a qualified yoga instructor, SUP instructor, and open water swimming coach.
Her sessions are known for being warm, technically clear, and quietly funny at the right moments. People who arrive nervous about the board tend to leave planning when they can come back. People who arrive with an existing yoga practice tend to leave surprised at how different the water makes it feel.
Alex leads all SUP Yoga sessions.
