Experience SUP yoga in the Cotswolds with a touch of luxury! Reset your body and your mind in the crystal clear, heated water of the Chipping Norton Lido in the heart of the Cotswolds.

New to paddleboarding? New to yoga? Doesn't matter at all, our SUP yoga classes at “The Chippy Lido” are completely beginner friendly so that anyone can have a go. You will have exclusive use of this secluded little gem of a lido with a maximum of just 5 other participants. There is space to go at your own pace, perhaps challenge yourself or just enjoy a new experience.

SUP yoga is all about getting outdoors and embracing a new perspective. The added challenge of being on the water really helps to bring you into the moment, and even the simplest of poses can become challenging for even the most practised of yogis! SUP yoga in an outdoor pool is the height of luxury (especially in this beautiful lido).

SUP yoga is a fun, challenging way to improve your strength, flexibility and balance. In yoga, we practise mindful movement that is not only strengthening our physical selves but also our minds. Being outside in this beautiful and peaceful location helps us to focus the mind, the added challenge from balancing on our boards leaves us little room for busy thoughts and rumination and so an hour of SUP yoga can help reset and restore even the most frazzled mind.

What you'll be doing...

We will meet at the beautiful Chipping Norton Lido, We will have a short on-land briefing covering the all-important SUP safety knowledge, SUP yoga gear and equipment (such as how to safely anchor a board for SUP yoga) and any questions you might have before popping our boards in the pool and anchoring to the swim lanes.

You won't need any prior paddleboarding experience to safely join in as we're only really paddling out into the middle of the pool for the class but Alex will guide you all the way when it comes to how to paddle, stand and position yourself on the board.

You will be able to try out various poses and postures on the calm, flat water of the swimming pool without boat traffic or other water users to worry about. Alex will give you postures to suit your ability and options to challenge yourself if you like.

What is an ASI-accredited SUP yoga instructor?

Alex is a 200-hour qualified yoga teacher, an ASI SUP instructor, a qualified ASI SUP yoga instructor and an STA Level 2 open water swim coach, so you're in very safe hands. The only requirement is that you are able to swim 50m unaided.

2What is included?
We will provide you with all the equipment necessary for your retreat, including mats, blocks, straps and of course your paddle board.
3What should you wear?
Because we will be in and out of the water all day I recommend at least 2 bathing costumes so that you can change out of a wet one and into a dry one for comfort. If you do not want to practise SUP yoga in your bathing clothes you can practise in your normal yoga gear (light quick drying and flexible items such as leggings, sports tops etc) Make sure you have a towel, a change of clothes and perhaps a swim hat and goggles if you intend to swim. Plan ahead for the weather on your day - if the sun is shining bring sunblock and a bottle of water to keep with you. A hat can be really helpful to keep the sun out of your eyes whilst still allowing you free movement (sunglasses not so much). On cooler days be sure to bring plenty of extra layers and maybe a spare towel or dry robe if you have one.
4Feeling a little unsure?
