2COVID19 Secure Audited
All our sessions will be socially distanced, hygienic and will adhere to government guidelines and advice from British Canoeing, the ASI and the Avon Navigation Trust as these evolve over time as well as meeting our own internal COVID19 risk assessment standards. We are ASI COVID19 Secure Audited.
3On-site facilities
Wittering SUP HQ is based at Arden Sailing Club where we have toilets, changing rooms, hot showers, light refreshments, picnic tables and secure parking onsite.
4What is included?
A full price membership ticket includes a licenced board, a paddle and a QR waist belt. It also includes optional wetsuit loan, buoyancy aid, dry bag. You will also have free parking and access to the facilities including the showers, changing rooms and Kitchenette.
A ticket discounted for bringing your own board requires you to provide your own board and your own river licence purchased through British Canoeing. Other items can be loaned if you are without.
5What should you wear?
When paddling through the winter we need to be prepared for the reality of a fall. Wearing even 3 mm of neoprene will help to reduce the risk of cold water shock and hypothermia. We recommend wearing a wetsuit. You can layer up over your wetsuit, a pac-a-mac and packable trousers are a great thing to carry in your dry bag to keep off any wind chill if you do get wet. When the weather turns cold it is wise to cover your feet, water shoes, trainers, even wellies are all fine. You should bring a towel and a change of clothes just in case. Be sure to check the weather and dress appropriately for outdoor exercise. Buoyancy aid is optional and personal preference at our location and they can be borrowed from the club at no extra cost.
During the cooler months you may want to wear a few layers or perhaps a hoody; feel free to bring your own wetsuit. We have a few wetsuits and thermal rash vests you are welcome to borrow :)
On my feet I prefer a physical connection with my board so I tend to go barefoot, but any water-shoe is fine or even a pair of old trainers that you don’t mind getting wet.
A towel and a change of clothes are a good idea, just in case ;)
6Feeling a little unsure?
